Johannes was born in Cologne, Germany. He studied cinematography at Filmuniversity Babelsberg Konrad Wolf, where he realized numerous award-winning short films that participated in various national and international festivals. Johannes graduated from film school in 2014 with two features: The Dark House By The Woods and After Spring Comes Fall. For the latter he received the Michael-Ballhaus-Preis 2015, a nomination for Best Cinematographers’ Debut at Camerimage and the Best Feature Award (shared with director) at Vilmos Zsigmond International Film Festival. Besides his experiences from productions in Europe, he also shot in Asia and the US. Johannes is working as a freelancer and is based in Berlin.
